First Day of 2013-14 Season at Saddleback

@MaineSkiFamily had a great opening day at Saddleback on December 27. They did a great job getting their snow making trails in top shape after the recent ice storm. Some natural snow along with some expert grooming made for some enjoyable skiing.

From the top of the Rangeley double chair they have three ways down the mountain. Gray Ghost, Green

Weaver and Royal Coachman. Coachman has an earlier open than in years past which is a nice change. They were also offering beginner trail skiing below the lodge serviced by the lower quad chair.

They did have parts of Professor and Golden Smelt open but it was a bit of "dust on crust" skiing. Some snow is in the forecast so that should help soften things up on these trails a bit.

They did a nice job getting some cool features going in the Terrain Park. Kudo's to the park crew for getting it started.

There was a good crowd on the mountain today. We noticed lots of rentals and day tickets on jackets. Great to see some new people getting on skis. They were making snow on Tri-color and Tight Line so it is a full on assault to the top Quad running. While the lift lines were not super long, there was a wait and getting another chair open will only help manage the vacation week crowds.
