Black Mountain of Maine - February 25, 2024
Today we visited Black Mountain of Maine in Rumford and it looks like it was one of the last days of winter conditions that we'll see for a bit. It was a great bluebird day at BMOM. The base area was busy, due to racing, but there was never a wait of more than a couple minutes to get on the chairs all day.![]() |
Dead Cambridge Trail |
Everything was open, except for Kennebago and the very start of Magalloway, both due to unfrozen water drainages. Groomed terrain had a fast loose granular surface, while ungroomed terrain was very firm, but plenty skiable in places that didn't have ruts in the older snow.

Penobscot Trail |
Trails with snowmaking had good cover, but glades and natural trails had numerous thin and bare spots showing through. We took a couple runs in the sidecountry area, including down the newly reworked Wesserunsett. It's a fun trail with steeps and interesting undulations in the terrain which is great to see clear of brush again.
