This fall, the current owners (the Whitcomb family) of Hermon Mountain in Hermon, Maine stated in a Facebook post that this will be the last season of operations if a buyer does not come forward. Powder.com reported that the ski area has been on the market since 2022 and the current asking price for the 69+ acre property is $2.1 million.
Recently, a buyer has come forward and is in the process of raising money to complete the sale. Nicole Herstik and her husband Jesse Clement, recently stated in a Facebook post that they are under contract and are 50% of the way there in raising the funds to complete the sale. The Facebook post reads:
Calling All Mountain Lovers & Visionary Investors! 🏔️
My husband and I are on a mission to save a piece of Maine’s soul — a 69-acre, family-run ski resort that’s been a winter tradition for 4 decades in our extended family and we want to see it stay for more generations to come. It generates over $250K in just 4 months, and with $1.1M in federal funding secured by us, we’re already halfway there.
Now we need $1.5M to finish the purchase and elevate this gem to its full potential — from snowmaking to year-round outdoor recreation and community events. We already have years of experience with Summertime events and sports and winter skiing is our our blood.
📩 If you believe in high-impact community investments, and sustainability with federal funding and community spirit in New England Maine area let’s talk. This could be your chance to be a part of transforming the mountain. Let’s build something real, community-driven, and unforgettable. 💙🎿

According to the Bangor Daily News Nicole is a former Australian Olympic Alpine skier and with Jesse is the owner/operator of the Big Air Farm MX Track in Oakfield, Maine.
Local ski areas are the lifeblood of the alpine skiing industry. Our family grew up skiing many of these local Maine ski areas and Hermon Mountain, which is close to the Bangor area population, is an important piece of the Maine skiing scene. We hope Nicole and Jesse are successful in raising the necessary funds to make this purchase a reality!
