The countdown is on for Saddleback's opening day! Saddleback is the A Family Skiing in Maine home mountain and the build up to the season kick-off is always exciting for us. Saddleback is opening for the season at 10am on Saturday December 10th. Stay tuned to the Saddleback website, Facebook and Instagram pages for the latest news on opening day. Also, bookmark their events page for some cool events scheduled throughout the season.
Here are 5 things to know about the 2022-23 season at Saddleback.
1) Buy Lift Tickets Online - Saddleback has implemented a new point-of-sale system which allows for online buy-ahead ticket options where you can save significant money compared to the walk-up window rate. As of this writing (December 5th) $50 opening day tickets are available, as well as Christmas holiday week tickets in the $70 range. Don't delay as quantities are limited at these low ticket prices. Check out their new e-store here.
2) Chef Coco and New Pub Menu - The first reviews are in! Chef Coco is off to a fantastic start and absolutely hitting it out the park with the new Pub menu. We can't wait dine on the new offerings. Check out some of the Facebook reviews below.
CoCoKillinit! Had the shrimp tacos yesterday and the Chicken Sando today! Amazing.
Some of the best food I’ve ever had up there ever. Surprised me today. Well done.
We went today! Best meal we’ve ever had. The tacos and cauliflower were amazing!
We loved our dinner tonight!…chicken soup with amazing corn bread & a Tai chicken pizza! Josh rocked the bar with a spicy margarita & Bigelow brown. We will be back! Thank you!
3) New Sandy Lift - Saddleback is installing a new fixed grip quad chairlift in front of the base lodge that will service the terrain park, beginner terrain as well as give easy access to the Cupsuptic T-Bar. Even though this is a small lift, we have really missed a lift in this location over the past two seasons and we are thrilled one is being built! They are still putting the finishing touches on the lift and won't be ready opening day, but fingers crossed for a Christmas holiday week opening. You can also check out our Saddleback Trail Guide with descriptions of all the lifts and trails at Saddleback.
4) Retail Shop and Ski School in New Locations - The retail shop has moved back to its original location in the northwest corner of the first floor of the base lodge. Head down the stairs from the ticket office area and you will be sure to find it. Also look out for the new Hard Goods store in the rental shop area for new skis and snowboards. The ski school has moved to the northeast corner of the first floor, next to the automatic sliding doors to the lift area. The retail inventory and ski school offerings look outstanding this year!
5) New Mid Mountain Lodge Construction: We spent a lot of time at Saddleback this summer and fall and can attest it was full-steam ahead on the mid-mountain lodge build. While no definite opening date plans have been announced, we do know the roof is on and the walls are up and the crew at Saddleback is working hard to make it happen.
This is a December 2nd photo of the new mid-mountain lodge which is the triangle shaped building located next to the top terminal of the Rangeley HSQ. Fingers crossed the rest of the construction goes smoothly and we all get to enjoy the mid-mountain lodge this ski season. Stay tuned! See you at SADDLEBACK!
