This about sums up our ski day experience on April 8th, 2024 at Saddleback
Maine. As stated on
WGBH.ORG.
Grant worked as an intern in at Quantrix, a company I worked for a while ago. He is on to big things at the Harvard and Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and vice president of the American Astronomical Society. He captured the experience in words exactly right.
And add viewing a total eclipse from the top of Saddleback mountain, with a
360 degree ring of orange on the horizon with the sun and moon merging as one
giant cosmic object in the sky set in a beautiful shade of blue and gray
sprinkled with the lights of Venus and Jupiter ... was utterly mind-blowing.
We expected it to be a cool and awesome experience, but it far exceeded our
expectations.

Oh and by the way... the skiing was spectacular all weekend!

Saddleback
had an A+ weekend. Deep Snow to Bright Spring Sunshine to Magical Eclipse
Darkness. The management and staff pulled all the right levers to make it
a top notch experience for all the guests. Well done.

Image description from the photographer: This image is a composite photo composed from two images which allowed me to use some creative freedom in post production. One image is of the eclipse/sky and one of the skier/mountain. This allowing me to recompose the eclipse to appear larger and lower in the sky. I took both images from the same location during totality just moments apart from each other.
Eclipse euphoria is real! We live in an amazing world! We must take care of
it! We are blessed.
